ActivitiesThyssenKrupp Veerhaven's Agency Department acts as a shipping agent for a large number of customers in all Dutch ports. With this they represent the cargo consignee ThyssenKrupp Steel AG as well as acting in the capacity as protecting and trusted agent for other customers. From seaport to shipper ThyssenKrupp Veerhaven guarantees that orders are carried out correctly and promptly. The customs clearance activities cover every conceivable service aspect for both the ship and the crew in the Amsterdam–Rotterdam–Antwerp range. Completing the customs formalities, crew change, provisioning and bunkering are a number of aspects, which require just-in-time planning.
Besides completing the customs formalities and nautical-technical matters, ThyssenKrupp Veerhaven ensures close contact with the various stevedoring companies and suppliers. This way we handle hundreds of ships a year in the various ports with a cargo package totalling around 22 million tons. The many types of ore and coal are unloaded at the transhipment companies (terminals) specialised therein, like the Ertsoverslagbedrijf [Ore Transhipment Company] Europoort C.V. (E.E.C.V), CTE (Coal Terminal Europoort), EMO, EBS and OBA . From here our Rhine Navigation Department, with the well-known ThyssenKrupp Veerhaven pushing boats and pushed barges, takes over the package of ore and coal for forwarding in transit to the German hinterland.
In addition to the above-mentioned activities, our Agency Department is also active in outbound cargo. This consists mainly of steel products, which are transported from Duisburg to various European destinations. The European car manufacturers often use products produced by ThyssenKrupp. Depending on the water level on the Rhine these shipments of steel rolls have to be, fully or partially, transhipped in coasters in Rotterdam. Here, too, ThyssenKrupp Veerhaven is involved as a shipping agent as well as supervising and controlling the entire process.
